Do we see enough beauty?

Something to think about….

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent,

The Windchill Footbag tourney is movin' on to be KICK VOLLEY 01

After years of tournaments named the Montreal Windchill Footbag Net tournament, main organizer Yves Archambault moves on to rename the event: KICK VOLLEY 01.

It’s a fresh approach to the problematic of making this sport known. In the past the name Footbag conveyed a lot of good but also a lot of confusion as the general public had to deal with a lot of different footbag forms: Footbag Circle, Footbag Freestyle, Footbag Net and even Footbag Golf.

The name KICK VOLLEY is much more descriptive of what the athletes in this sport are doing. KICK is the martial arts component as many of the spikes are or could be inspired by martial arts KICKS. VOLLEY is the part of the name that describes the playing over the net with the 3 hits per side thing, only this time it’s all done with feet only, no hands, no chest block, no knees. The event is scheduled to take place on march 21st and 22nd at: Le Cégep du Vieux-Montréal. More info this week.

Montreal Canadiens start strong in the new NHL season

Our beloved Montreal Canadiens are back in action and tonight’s performance againt the Maple Leafs was superb. They took care of the Leafs right from the start and sailed to an easy 6-1 victory. The power play showed signs of last year’s excellence (1st in the league standings) with 3 goals scored with the man advantage. Jaroslav’s Halak debut was solid as well as a little lucky, the Toronto players hitting the post on many occasions.

Overall good passing, great transition and

Federer renews with greatness at the US open

09/09/08 | by yevez | Categories: Life of pleasures, Sports and Games

For a while this year I thought that Roger Federer would never win a grand slam title again. Well I’m happy that he proved me wrong last night when he succeeded in the challenge of winning a 5th US Open title in a row. His fluid style and perfect movement was back during this tournament to the pleasure of his many fans. It’s still Rafael Nadal’s year but Roger is back on the hard court.

Fed beat Andy Murray in straight sets in a good demonstration of what it is to be a champion. He had to be even better to beat Novak Djokovic in the semis on saturday. His serve was not as destructive against the scottish but he was on the offence side throughout the match always looking for the winner.

Murray on the other hand seemed a little flat at times and he probably tweeked his knee sometimes during the second set. In that same second set he was robbed of a break point that could have changed the match when a line judge missed a call. As the players were in the middle of a fast paced rallye Murray didn’t stop the play to go to the challenge system, too bad, even great champions need a little luck at times.

Way to go Roger and as you said to the interviewer who was harassing you with that question 27 years old is still very young and we wish you many other grand slam titles, this could be needed if you don’t want to see Nadal beat the record in no time. (14 grand Slam titles held by Pete Sampras)

Here’s an article by the BBC on Federer’s win:

World Footbag Championships: Montreal back on top

Strangely the Footbag net competition at the 2008 Prague World Footbag Championships brought the same doubles finals than the finals of the Pro Kicker Montreal Championships held 3 weeks before. So if you want to win Worlds you have to make it here.:> This tournament is sometimes harder to win than Worlds.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists at Worlds and to every one who’s happy with their experience, Footbag rocks.
